Hydretain ES Plus
Hydretain is a unique concept in root zone moisture management that effectively reduces the overall watering requirements of plants, shrubs, trees, turf and agriculture by as much as 50% or more. Hydretain is not another wetting agent, surfactant or super absorbent polymer crystal. It is actually a liquid group of hygroscopic and humectant components that attract moisture like tiny “water magnets” forming microscopic droplets within the root zone. This process allows plants to utilize soil moisture which would otherwise be lost to evaporation. Hydretain ESPlus combines Hydretains’s root zone moisture management technology with an advanced environmentally sound, renewable resource, non-ionic surfactant for improved soil penetration.
Hydretain root zone moisture manager reduces the watering requirements of lawns, landscapes, potted plants, and gardens by up to 50% or more. Hydretain is a blend of hygroscopic humectants that convert soil moisture vapor into water droplets that plants can use. This process improves water and nutrient uptake to help plants thrive, even under heat and drought stress. Easy-to-use hose-end sprayer covers up to 3,500 square feet. Hydretain is kid and pet-friendly.
- Works two ways by slowing the evaporative loss of moisture from the soil as well as improving the lateral movement of moisture into the vicinity of the root zone.
- Stays in the soil continually seeking additional moisture.
- Contains no phosphates, petrochemical derivatives or any other toxic fractions that would cause groundwater runoff contamination.
Types of plants used for:
- Turf, Seeding
- Individual Plants
- Potted or Containerized Plants
- Large Planters
- Food Plots
|Active Ingredient||Humectant – 54% 10% Non-Ionic Surfactant|
|Application||Application: Break tab on Hose-end sprayer before turning knob to the on position.
Turf: General application rate – Through hose-end sprayer apply 9 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. once every 3 months or maintain monthly at 1/3 rate after initial full-rate application. One quart treats up to 3,500 Sq. Ft. For best results apply to wet soil. Water in with at least 1/10 inch of water within the first hour to ensure Hydretain ES Plus is washed off foliage and into the soil. Within 24 hours, follow with enough additional water to carry Hydretain down to and throughout the root zone. (The amount of additional water required to carry Hydretain throughout the root zone is dependant on the depth of the root zone of the treated area. Usually 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water is required.) Additional Hydretain may be required to correct difficult and extreme dry spot areas. Hydretain may be applied at up to 5 times the general application rate as a single treatment or in multiple applications.
Seeding, Sodding, Sprigging: Through hose-end sprayer apply Hydretain at general application rate of 9 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. after seeding, sodding or sprigging. Water in with only enough water to rinse Hydretain off foliage and into the soil at seed level or the root area of new sod or sprig. An application of Hydretain made prior to overseeding, and watered into the root zone will manage soil moisture for existing turf during new turf establishment.
Trees, Shrubs & Individual Plants: Through hose-end sprayer thoroughly saturate the root zone or dilute Hydretain at a rate of 2 oz. per gallon of water and apply by drench thoroughly saturating the root zone. For maximum effectiveness on trees apply 1 to 2 ounces of concentrate for each 1/4 inch of trunk diameter.
Potted or Containerized Plants: Through hose-end sprayer thoroughly saturate the root zone or dilute Hydretain at a rate of 2 oz. per gallon of water and apply by drench thoroughly saturating the root zone. Media should be dry enough to hold as much diluted Hydretain as possible.
Large Planters & Gardens: Through hose-end sprayer thoroughly saturate the root zone of individual plants or generally apply at a rate of 2 ounces of concentrate per 60 sq. ft of area. One quart treats up to 1,000 square feet.
For Best Results: Water thoroughly when re-watering Hydretain treated plants. Proper fertilization will enhance Hydretain’s effectiveness. Hydretain is biodegradable. For maximum effectiveness reapply every three months or when required watering becomes more frequent. Reapply if a reduction in watering is not apparent within the first two weeks.
Caution: If Hydretain ES Plus is applied to open flowers blooms, rinse with water plain water
