Rail Spray Technician – Candidates should live in the greater Lexington, South Carolina area as a home base.  There is frequent overnight travel throughout our territory in 21 states.

Rail Spray Technicians:

Our Rail Spray Technicians come from all walks of life performing vegetation management services to rail customers across several states. Our services include herbicide applications (spraying) for growth regulations as well as mechanical services like cutting and clearing. We train all employees on-site. We always expect our technicians to follow our safety policies in all circumstances and lead by example. This is not a landscaping job. We use heavy trucks and equipment and we have EPA regulations that must be followed.

The Work:

Working from a heavy-duty rail truck, you’ll be working outdoors, on the road, across multiple states applying herbicide to control vegetation for railroad customers. Travel overnight for2-4 weeks at a time is part of this job depending on seasonal needs.

What Qualifications are Best for this Job:

**CDL is required (At least class B)
**Equipment experience is plus

·       Physically able to work outdoors, on your feet, in various conditions

·       Knowledge of how to protect yourself in heat exposure conditions

·       Ability to travel for weeks at a time

·       Ability to routinely lift 50lbs

·       Experience operating light/heavy-duty trucks

·       Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot issues

·       Better than average knowledge of basic tools

·       Math skills to include basic multiplication and division, percentages, measurement conversions

·       Strong functionality with Apple Products (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

·       Must be willing to travel for periods up to 6 weeks at a time; usually 2-3 weeks at a time, includes weekends

·       Territory is throughout the eastern half of the United States

·       Ability to navigate and understand Google Maps

·       Comfortable maintaining digital paperwork, filling out forms online

·       Over 21 years old

·       Can successfully pass pre-employment and post-employment screenings (drug and background)

·       Excellent driving record (MVR) for the last three (3) years

·       Must be able to pass state Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator License Exam within 3-weeks of employment (study and testing supplies provided)

Pay & Hours:

·       $52,000 annual salary, any increases following annual employment evaluation

·       45-65 hours per week are routine in this position

·       Overnight travel, including weekends

·       3-4 weeks out; 5-10 days home (with pay)

·       Per Diem, corporate lodging, fuel expenses covered by company
